Additionally, monthly parking is more affordable; monthly prices can go from $120 up to $300, so for the most part, you'll pay less than $10 a day.


Keep in mind, that it's pretty challenging to find a downtown parking facility that charges less than $10 per day. There are many parking facilities in the neighborhood, however, be aware of opening hours to prevent having your car stuck inside for the night. Most regular parking garages have restricted hours of operation (7a.m.–6p.m.), and you may have to pay an additional fee of up to $25 a month to access a parking garage open around the clock.

One American Center Garage

The One American Center offers monthly parking passes with prices that go from $240 to $265 for 24hr parking per month. This covered parking garage is located on 600 N Congress Ave with a total of 871 parking spaces and a maximum height level of 6ft 6in. The garage is in service only Monday - Friday from 7a.m. to 9p.m. Just a few minutes away you'll find the Texas Capitol, Waterloo Park and the famous Red River Cultural District.


Residence Inn Austin Downtown

The parking garage at the Residence Inn has one of the most affordable monthly parking rates at $175. It's located on 300 E 4th St, within walking distance of many other areas' main hotels such as the Hilton and Hampton Inn. You'll also be two blocks away from 6th street and its many restaurants, bars and entertainment venues. Keep in mind this option is only available to park from Monday - Friday 6a.m. to 6p.m.


101 Colorado Garage

The 101 Colorado Garage offers easy parking near the 100 Congress and 2nd St. shopping areas, the JW Marriott, the ACL Theater, the Congress Avenue Bridge and Bat Viewing Bridge, the Austin Convention Center, and the City Hall of Austin. You can get a monthly parking pass for $250 and the garage is open 24/7. It's located on 101 Colorado Street and the height restriction is 7ft 2in.


Affordable Parking Program for Entertainment and Service Sector

Austin residents working in the service and entertainment sector can take advantage of the City's Affordable Parking Program. This joint project of the City of Austin and the Downtown Austin Alliance aims to lower economic barriers to access downtown by providing affordable monthly parking alternatives in selected garages. Pass holders can access the facilities as early as 3 p.m. and stay until 7 a.m. with options to park for up to 24hrs on the weekend, depending on the garage.


The monthly prices are pretty reasonable, going from $30 to $65. Remember that you must complete an application for most garages and contact Austin transportation to receive the discounted parking pass.


Austin City Parking Regulations

Finally, if you're new to the city, you might want to know some parking regulations and stay clear of any tickets. For example, many neighborhoods have a Front Yard Parking law that forbids you from parking in the side or front yards of your home if there is no paved driveway or parking space.


In the downtown area, metered parking spaces (although they can fill up pretty fast) run from Monday - Wednesday 8 a.m. to 6p.m., Thursday - Friday 8a.m. - midnight and on Saturday 11a.m. - midnight. You'll rarely come across free parking spaces in the area; however, on Sundays, parking is free at metered spaces.
