The Frank H. Ogawa Plaza is a public square in Oakland, California. It is located at the intersection of San Pablo Avenue, Broadway, and 14th Street. Several early twentieth-century business buildings in the Beaux-Arts style surround the square. With Oakland City Hall and a city office building located on the plaza's west side.


The plaza is a public space with a total area of 160,000 square feet. It is mostly made up of "The Commons," an elevated lawn. The plaza also includes The Forum, or amphitheater. Which serves as a gathering and performance place for the public.


Downtown Oakland parking

Because it is located in such a popular area. Frank Ogawa plaza parking can often be difficult and free parking is hard to come by. It can be a good idea to make a parking spot reservation before you intend to enter the area. Below we will look at different parking options in Downtown Oakland and help you find the most suitable location at the best price.

Fox Theater

Parking in Fox Theater downtown Oakland is available in partnership with the Franklin Plaza garage, which offers parking on its site. It is located on Telegraph Ave between 18th and 19th street. The partnership allows for parking during their event hours. You will need to check the start time and end time of an event to find out what time parking is available.


During their events, there will be a flat charge of $15 for parking. Event hours are posted at the entrance. The Fox Theater is a 5-minute walk from the Frank H Ogawa Plaza.


Oakland Arena

For all events, Oakland arena parking is accessible on-site. It also caters to parking limousines, buses, and RVs. Those with an ADA placard will be given a special parking area.

Parking at Oakland Arena is best reserved in advance. As there may be no available spots on the day of the event. The rates are as follows:

  • Car and motorcycles - $40 (standard-sized vehicle)

  • RV/Limo/Bus - $120 (OSV in any vehicle wider than 9' and longer than 18')

VIP parking costs $70 and includes stress-free entry and leave through gates 5 or 8, as well as parking lots G or H.


Platinum parking, which is located only steps from the venue gates and costs $100. This parking space will get you to your seats faster. You'll use parking lot GG and enter and exit through gate 5. Limos and big cars above 18', however, are not permitted to park in the platinum parking lot.


Parking gates open two hours prior to the start of an event. Arena doors open one hour prior to the start of the event. Tailgating is permitted at the Oakland arena. But due to the few parking spots available, each car is limited to one parking stall.


Douglas Parking Lot 46

Located at 1440 Harrison St, Lakeside. Douglas parking lot is just an 8-minute walk from the Frank Ogawa Plaza and just a 6-minute walk to the Lincon Square park. This garage is open all day, every day. its rates are:

  • Monday to Friday Daytime - $14 (If you're in after 4:30 am and out by 4 pm)

  • Monday to Friday Evening - $5 (If you're in after 4 pm Out by 4: 30am)

  • Saturday and Sunday - $5 Flate rate all day.

There are no height restrictions for vehicles in this parking lot and you can pay by phone.


Franklin Plaza Garage

The Franklin Plaza garage on Franklin St is just a 4-minute walk away from the Paramount Theater. This garage's opening times are from 7 am to 7 pm, Monday to Friday. The garage is closed on weekends.


One hour in this garage starts from $2 and there is a maximum daily rate of $36. There is an early bird special available at $15 if you are in by 9:30 am and out by 8 pm.


Evening rates are set at $10 as long as you are in after 4 pm and Out by 8 pm. Overnight stays are available here for $6. You can also find more options for overnight parking in Downtown Oakland here. Disable spaces are available in this garage as well and you can pay by cash or card.


There is a maximum height restriction of 1.98m per vehicle.


If you can't find any spaces, you may want to try to check for available parking by the Paramount Theater.


Douglas Parking Balco Lot

This parking lot is a 6-minute walk (0.3 mi) away from the Frank Ogawa plaza.

You can stay for as little as 20 minutes here for $2. Daytime rates from 4:30 am to 4 pm (Monday - Friday) are $16.


Evening rates are $5 if you are in after 4 pm and Out by 4:30 am. a 24-hour stay will cost $30.


Saturday and Sundays are a flat rate of $5 all day. This garage is open 24/7.


Pacific Renaissance Plaza

If you're looking to spend some time in downtown Chinatown this is one of the closest parking options. It is located between Webster St and 9th Street.


This garage offers short-term stays of half an hour for $1 with an additional $1 for every half hour you stay after that. It has a maximum daily rate of $24.


24-hour overnight stays are available here for $30. The opening times for this garage are:

  • Monday - Thursday : 7am - 11pm

  • Friday - Saturday : 7am - 12am

  • Sunday: 7am - 11pm

There are 356 spaces available in this parking lot and there is a maximum height of 2.08 meters for vehicles.
